Sustainable Nutrition for Emerging Markets: A Scalable Solution

The global demand for meat is reaching unsustainable levels, with projections indicating that by 2050, the world’s population will surpass 10 billion people. Meeting the rising protein needs, especially in emerging markets across Africa and Asia, presents both a challenge and an opportunity.

The Need for a Food System Revolution

Satisfying the growing demand for meat would require resources equivalent to two Earths. However, emerging markets are expected to account for over 75% of the global protein demand increase in the next 25 years. To address this, scalable, affordable, and sustainable food solutions are necessary.

v2food’s Plant-Based Solution

v2food has developed a plant-based protein solution designed for mass accessibility. The company’s innovative product comes in a dry powder mix, packaged in consumer-ready sachets. Once hydrated at home, each sachet produces 50 grams of plant-based meat for an affordable price of around $0.15. This cost-effective approach ensures accessibility, particularly in markets with limited meat availability and underdeveloped supply chains.

Successful Pilot in Nigeria, Upcoming Launch in the Philippines

In early 2025, v2food launched its first pilot program in Nigeria, testing the feasibility and impact of its plant-based protein solution. As Africa’s most populous country, Nigeria presents a significant market for affordable nutrition solutions. During the trials, over half a million sachets were distributed in traditional markets, providing consumers with an accessible and nutritious meat alternative. The insights gained from this pilot are now shaping the next phase of expansion.

Following the success in Nigeria, v2food is preparing for its next pilot launch in the Philippines, a rapidly growing economy in Asia with increasing interest in plant-based alternatives. The Philippines trial will help refine the product’s market fit before a broader rollout across Asia.

Partnering with NGOs for Greater Impact

To further accelerate adoption and enhance credibility, v2food is engaging with NGOs to integrate its product into food security initiatives. By leveraging these organizations’ local trust and educational outreach, the company aims to boost awareness of plant-based protein benefits and ensure broader access to nutritious food solutions.

The Road Ahead

With the Nigeria pilot successfully completed and the Philippines launch on the horizon, v2food is focused on expanding its impact across Africa and Asia. By providing an affordable, nutritious, and scalable plant-based protein alternative, the company is taking a crucial step toward a more sustainable global food system.
